“Souper Bowl” Sunday!
Keeping with CCC tradition, our Sunday School classes are asking for donations to our annual Souper Bowl collection for Open Pantry of Greater Lowell.  Souper Bowl is a nationwide initiative to help fight hunger on the local level. It is held on Super Bowl Sunday, the day of the year when Americans consume more food than any other day except Thanksgiving. The Open Pantry of Greater Lowell serves more than 1800 people per month, (approximately 1/3 of those children). Assistance is offered without any discrimination based on race, creed or country of origin.  Here’s a video that aired on Channel 5 news this past year:  https://www.wcvb.com/article/open-pantry-in-lowell-serving-those-in-need/32334182#
Outside in 22-degree weather this past Sunday, our classes learned that over 2800 years ago, the prophet Isaiah wrote (Isaiah 58:10): “Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble.  Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.” Due to COVID restrictions, we are encouraging check donations to be made out to CCC with Open Pantry in the message line and mailed to the church. Please help us be the light by providing for our neighbors who struggle with hunger. Donations may also be made online through CCC’s website. Scroll to the bottom of the homepage and click on the Donate” button. Please mark your donation to go to the Open Pantry or write “Souper Bowl” in the note. Thanks.
