Neighborhood Gathering

Several years ago our church began discussions on issues of inclusivity and the Open and Affirming Process. When Pastor John retired, the Mass Conference strongly suggested we postpone the process until a new pastor is in place. The Deacons of our church have decided it’s time to restart the Open and Affirming Process. An Open and Affirming Task Force is up & running. If you’d like to be involved, we’d love to have you. Speak to Lynn Horton or Pastor Rich.

This process will include study, prayer, and conversation among individuals, small groups, and larger groups. Within the context of becoming a more broadly inclusive church, we’ll talk about becoming an “Open and Affirming” church. Open and Affirming, referred to by the initials “ONA”, is a UCC designation for churches that have publicly and specifically declared that those of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions are welcome in its ministry.

We’ve held two “Neighborhood Gatherings” thus far. These have been well-attended and very worthwhile. Our next Neighborhood Gathering is: Sun. April 22, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 pm at the home of Beth Jarok. For more information and to sign up, please see the deacons after worship or contact the church office.

In grace and peace, Lynn Horton, Monique Billingsley, Marcia Cassidy, Doug Drake, Elizabeth Hartigan, Beth Jarok, Val King, Sue Mirisola, Judy Musgrove, Karen Papenfuss, Pastor Rich Knight
