CCC = Central Congregational Church
UCC = United Church of Christ, our denomination
The God Squad = our Senior High Youth Group
The Holy Cows = our Middle School Youth Group
KiSeLo = The name of our Women’s Fellowship. Stands for Kindness, Service, Love.
Narthex = the lobby of the church
Chancel = the area around the communion table, including the choir seating, pulpit & lectern.
Liturgist = the person leading the opening of the service
9 Worthen = the house next to the church, used for meetings; former parsonage.
Carson Park = the beautiful park with gazebo behind 9 Worthen St., on church grounds.
OGHS = One Great Hour of Sharing, an ecumenical offering taken in March for disaster relief and developmental aid.
NIN = Neighbors in Need, a UCC offering taken in the Fall for mission efforts in the US.
ONA = Open & Affirming, a designation for congregations that invite LGBTQ folks into full membership & participation in the church.
LGBTQ = Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, Queer or Questioning.
SAM = our Social Action & Missions Committee.
The Beacon = our monthly church newsletter.
Diaconate = our board of deacons who along with the pastor oversee the spiritual ministries of the church.
