Duo of Hope "Musical Storytelling"

The fabulous Fernandez-Prieto Duo - consisting of CCC Director of Music and pianist Francisco Fernandez and his wife, renowned cellist Taide Prieto - treated an appreciative crowd to an afternoon of beautiful music on Sunday, May 21.

The concert, entitled "Musical Storytelling," included Schubert's "Arpeggione Sonata," Liszt's "After Reading Dante," and Shostakovich's "Cello Sonata." Following the concert, guests enjoyed a lovely social hour and an opportunity to meet the performers in CCC's Fellowship Hall.

Thank you to these world-class performers for generously sharing their talents with us!

New! “Seeds of Faith” Blog

From Pastor Rich: "I’ve started a blog to go along with my sermons for July. We’ll be studying Paul’s incredible letter to the Philippians. It’s known as “The Epistle of Joy” because it uses the word “joy” more than any other book of the Bible. What’s amazing about this is that he wrote this letter from prison! So Paul’s got something to teach us about faith and joy in challenging times.
Each week I’ll post the passage I’ll be preaching on. I invite your comments. For security purposes you’ll have to “join” the blog to post on it. I hope you’ll check it out, especially if you’re away from CCC for the summer. This can be a nice way to stay connected. Essentially it’s an online Bible Study we can do together as a community of faith. Please check it out at cccspiritblog.blogspot.com."

An Exciting New Year of Sunday School!

We are all excited to begin a new year of Sunday School! We are delighted to offer loving, faith-filled classes for preschool through Grade 12 at Central Congregational Church. We also have a beautiful “Loving Arms” Nursery for infants and toddlers. Please share our website with friends and family who are looking for a wonderful, caring, nurturing Christian Education program for their children! You can download your registration form for Sunday School registration and submit it to your child's teacher. Children and teens begin in worship at 10 a.m. and then join their classes following the Sunday School recessional.
School Kit Collection

For all of September, CCC will be collecting school kits to give children in impoverished schools, refugee camps, or other difficult settings some of the basic tools for learning. You can pick up an empty canvas bag and checklist from Carolyn Chapman during coffee hour. Fill the bag with the checklist items and then return it to church. The kits are then shipped to Church World Service who will then distribute the kits to those in need. Last year CCC collected over 80 bags! Please help us to reach this year’s goal of 100 bags! For more information about the school kits, visit http://cwskits.org.
Pastor's Book Club: September 19 & 26

Pastor’s Book Club for September is Frederick Buechner’s Now and Then. It is Buechner’s belief that God speaks to us through the events of our daily lives. He helps us “listen to our lives” by describing the sacred moments of his life, most of which he only realized were sacred much later on in his journey. Please purchase the book on your own, but let Pastor Rich know you’ll be a part of the group.

Discussion meetings will be held Tuesdays, September 19 and 26 at 7:00 p.m. Please read the first half of the book for September 19.

Women's Bible Study: Begins September 24

The new Women’s Bible Study group will be doing this six-session Bible Study based on John Ortberg’s book If You Want to Walk on Water You’ve Got to Get Out of the Boat. The study will start the study on Sunday evening, September 24. The cost for the participant’s guide will be approximately $8. If you have questions or wish to sign up, contact Margie Dissinger at margie228@gmail.com or 978-256-3707.
Financial Peace University: Begins September 27

What if you knew where all of your money was going each month? What if you were debt-free, investing, and making wise spending decisions? For the third time, CCC is sponsoring Dave Ramsey’s class called “Financial Peace University.” You can take control of your money and start planning for your future. If you’re interested in learning more about the class, email or call Peter White at peter.c.white@comcast.net or 978-407-4913! The course will begin on Wednesday, September 27th.  Learn more at www.DaveRamsey.com
God & Country Program

CCC is offering the “God & Country” series youth program. While this is a core achievement for Scouts, all youth in grades 1 to 12 are welcome to join. It consists of four age-based levels–God & Me, God & Family, God & Church, God & Life–that present essential elements of our faith (service, community, family, education) in a format different from traditional Sunday School. We plan to offer one program starting this fall and completing before Scout Sunday in February. Since the format involves group activities, the more people, the more fun! Please contact Elmer Lyons at 978-250-4029 or elmer@dandelyons.net if you want to sign up or know more.
